David Montgomery
RB, Bears

David Montgomery is going to be the featured back for the Bears this season. He will be handling all of the rushing work and be the main goal line back. Tarik Cohen will take most of the receiving work, but both he and Montgomery will be on the field at the same time a lot, as Cohen lined up out wide or in the slot on over 42% of his snaps. He is almost as much of a receiver as he is a running back. The addition of Nick Foles will help Montgomery if Foles starts because of the fact that Foles is not mobile, meaning more dump offs to Montgomery. In addition, the Bears offense could be better if Foles starts, so Mongtomery could see more touchdowns. The Bears still won’t have a good offense and Montgomery will be running behind a bad offensive line, so he won’t be super efficient, but he will get good volume and end up getting around 1,000-1,100 yards from scrimmage and 5-8 touchdowns. He doesn’t have great upside but is a very safe pick because of the number of touches he will get (the Bears have even stated that they plan to increase the number of touches he gets), so he is worth drafting in the late fourth round at the earliest.
